A One Night Stand With The Devil
"Stay away from every kind of evil."
1 Thessalonians 5:22
Halloween is here again and many in our country will have a one-night stand with the devil. Sadly, too many think that dancing with the devil for just a few hours once a year is no problem. But that is not the case! Evil is very real and deceptively dominating these last days that we are experiencing.
I just learned that Halloween is the day when Ouija boards are purchases the most. It is also the day when the most occultic and demonic video games are purchased. We truly do have a fascination with the devil. And too often we forget that there is much more to this world than meets the eye because angels, demons, and spirits do exist!
Any attempts to communicate or conjure up the dead are spiritually dangerous practices that should not be viewed as innocent fun.
Demonology distinguishes three levels of demonic attacks. First is temptation that everyone is very familiar with. Second is oppression when demons torment people physically, spiritually, mentally, or emotionally. And third is possession, which is the most well-known and even horrifying of the three levels. That is when a demon or demons literally take physical possession of a person’s body and make use of it in many dangerous ways.
Attempting occult practices, such as contacting the dead through a Ouija board, is a dangerous way to opening oneself up to demonic activity. It is important to now that demons cleverly lie and trick, and that is no treat! They also can deceptively impersonate dead people. When asking a board for information about a deceased person, or a life decision, it is all too happy to move into position to influence. Using a Ouija board is inviting a demon into your life!
The Ouija board was first developed in the late 19th century as a parlor game; and this so-called “game” has wrecked many lives over the last 100 years. In 1890, a Baltimore spiritualist and medium named Helen Peters asked the talking board what she should call it, said the board responded “O-U-I-J-A,” which the spirit said meant “good luck.”
Today, the Ouija board is produced by Hasbro, which markets the product as a way to communicate with the spirit world. Their website says this about it, “Enter the world of the mysterious and mystifying with the Ouija board! You've got questions and the spirit world has answers — and the uncanny Ouija board is your way to get them.”
Any kind of divination and other occult practices, including horoscopes, are strongly condemned by the Bible!
God warns the Children of Israel, through Moses, of any kind of occultic activity. In Deuteronomy 18:10-11, God's words are strongly expressed, “Do not let your people practice fortune-telling, or use sorcery, or interpret omens, or engage in witchcraft, or cast spells, or function as mediums or psychics, or call forth the spirits of the dead.”
So let’s not put ourselves in harm’s way spiritually! It’s just not worthy the demonic risk. The Lord should always be our source of guidance and blessings!
God bless you,
Pastor Dave
