The Gap

What is the “Gap?” The place between how things are and how God  wants them to be. The only way to get to how God wants them to be is through prayer. While we wait for God to respond, he s waiting for us to intercede in prayer. The problem is, we can pray for a little while but when we don’t see results right away, we give up. Remember the disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane? “Then Jesus went with them to the olive grove called Gethsemane, and he said, “Sit here while I go over there to pray.” Matthew 26:36

Then he returned to the disciples and found them asleep. He said to Peter, “Couldn’t you watch with me even one hour? 41Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!” Matthew 36:40

Jesus came back two more times, and the disciples were asleep each time. Our spirits may truly be willing, but the flesh can be stronger. The results of our prayers can have eternal consequences.

There is a story of two women who prayed for their unsaved husbands for many years. One day, they talked about just giving up praying for their husbands but decided to pray a little longer.

One night, one of the husbands woke his wife up and told her, “I want to be saved!” So, they prayed. The wife was so excited that she ran down the street to the other woman’s house. They ran to meet each other. The other woman shouted, “My husband just got saved, too!”

What would have happened if they’d stopped praying? Our prayers, or lack of can have eternal consequences, the difference between heaven or hell! Be bold enough in prayer to stand in the gap.

God bless you!
