Humble Hearts
“And in those times there was no peace…but great turmoil was on all the inhabitants of the land.”
2 Chronicles 15:5-7
America is clearly in a civil war — not a battle of weapons, but a battle of ideas. I think it’s safe to say that most Americans are divided, disgusted, discouraged, frustrated and even fearful.
Public schools no longer focus on teaching, but only care about indoctrinating the minds of millions of children. Purity has been crushed as many public schools become incubation centers for false ideology and immorality.
Twitter has banned Trump but not the Taliban! Facebook and YouTube are removing opposing views on vaccines and Critical Race Theory. So where does freedom of speech stand in our country?
As I shared on Sunday night, according to Barna Research, “Nearly 72% of churches don’t look to the Bible as their final source of authority and direction.” No wonder America is crumbling from within and her foundations are deteriorating extremely fast.
Sadly, gun safes are full but prayer closets are empty, sports stadiums are full on Sundays, but churches are nearly empty. Walmart shopping carts overflow, while fasting is rarely considered. Americans have become sarcastic and bombastic, but rarely humble in heart and broken over sin.
The reality is that there are only a few solutions for our country.
First, we must humble ourselves and cry out the words of 2 Chronicles 14:11 “Lord, it is nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power; help us, O Lord our God, for we rest on You and in Your name we go against this multitude.”
We are not a humble nation anymore! We’ve stopped praying to the God who has guided us over the centuries, and we’ve stopped worshiping the God who gave us our prosperity and blessings. I guess we are too self-sufficient and too self-confident for God’s help.
“He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble His way.” Psalm 25:9
Secondly, Christians must stop having others think and speak for them. I don’t know about you, but very few politicians speak for me anymore because of a whole different worldview they are speaking from. So much of the political language of our day is filled with lies. Our politicians have perfected this in that they now can make lies sound like truth, and evil sound like good. That's messed up!
Shaun Isleman recently wrote, “Who thinks for you? God’s Word or social media? God’s Word or liberal authors? The Holy Spirit or the Hollywood Spirit? Are you so “woke” that you’re asleep to the things of God? Cowardliness remains silent and leaves the battle for our children. That’s a price I’m not willing to pay. Are you?”
The church’s lack of courage simply reflects our declining spiritual health. Boldness has a cost, and that cost involves dying to self and seeking God like never before, but the reward far outweighs the cost as we find in this ancient promise, “But you, be strong and do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded.” (2 Chronicles 15:7)
Let’s take these two solutions serious, and let's manifest them in our daily lives!
God bless you!
