Our Weapon of Choice
For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith.
1 John 5:4
Faith…what comes to mind when you hear that word? Do you see it as a nicety or a necessity? It is not only the way to our salvation, but it is also a weapon for our spirit. It is the foundation for our incredible redemption through Jesus, and it fortifies our intimate relationship with Jesus. The steps of faith can never fail us because with every step we find the perfect Rock to support us.
“Faith is like radar that sees through the fog – the reality of things that the human eye cannot see.”
~ Corrie Ten Boom
I recently heard Max Lucado share about a time when he and his boat survived a hurricane. An old seaman gave Max advice to survive any storm - take his boat to deep water, drop four anchors off each corner of the boat, and pray that the anchors hold. Max survived that storm, but he says that he learned an important lesson, all of us need an anchor that will hold during the storms of life. Our anchor is our faith in a miracle working God.
Because faith is so valuable and treasured by every believer in the risen Savior, unfortunately our faith is a target of the world and Satan because faith gives us the confidence in an invisible God whose attributes are clearly visible all around us. Creation by way of a powerful God takes a certain amount of faith verses creation by way of the power of nothing (evolution) takes a whole lot of faith!
Life as a Christian is a war zone! When we live for Christ and His word, Satan and the world battle against the truth we stand for. The world would love for every believer to keep their faith in a deep dark closet. But if we do that then we will never walk by faith trusting God to safely lead us safely through the landmines of lies that the can destroy our walk with God.
In order for us to really depend on faith as our weapon of choice, we must know the Word of God so we can skillfully develop our arsenal for overcoming the small battles of the day and the ultimate battle of faith. Knowing the Word of God is like filling a gun with bullets so it can be used affectively to achieve its purpose. Every believer achieves their kingdom purpose by using their faith as the weapon of choice every single day.
If we are not efficient in using our faith as a weapon, the adversary of our soul – Satan, and the adversary of our mind – fear, will rob us of our daily victory. When we embrace faith as our weapon of choice, we experience a fantastic adventure with God. We risk everything when we doubt God, but we reap so much when we trust God.
Many times, faith is the spiritual artillery that can move the heart of God to your particular need. It caused the woman with the issue of blood to be made whole, as the very essence of the touch of faith pulled virtue out of Jesus and captured His attention (Luke 8:43-48). She made a faith-move on God that grabbed His attention to meet her desperate need.
Faith may seem small to us, but it’s big to God!
God bless you,
Pastor Dave
