How Can It Be
“God proved His love to us by sending Jesus to die on the cross for us.” Romans 5:8
Sunday’s worship celebration was so uplifting as we celebrated God’s intense and eternal love for us.
Take a moment right now and just think about this fact: God loved you yesterday, loves you today and He will love you forever!
Wouldn’t you agree that God’s love for us is greater than our shortcomings? Though we don’t deserve His love, God still put His love on display through Jesus Christ on the cross. How can it be that we can experience such a love that we don't fully understand?
On Sunday, we heard six testimonies about what it means that God loves them. I’d like to share their thoughts with you again because Deb, Suellen, Steve, Mark, Patti and Janice expressed themselves so well. Enjoy!
“It’s impossible to describe the love of God in just a few words. I could quote many scriptures to describe His love. The Lord woke me up in the early morning hours and reminded me of an old hymn that describes perfectly what the love of God means to me… ‘I have a song that Jesus gave me, it was sent from heaven above, there never was a sweeter melody, tis a melody of love. I love the Christ who died on Calvary, for He washed by sins away, He put within my heart a melody, and I know it's there to stay. In my heart there rings a melody, there rings a melody with heaven’s harmony. In my heart there rings a melody, there rings a melody of love.’” ~ Deb
“I came to Jesus at 4 years old. Growing up in Yosemite, I saw God’s artwork that was indescribable to me at a young age. Then I got to thinking how God could give His Son for a sinner like me. I still can’t fathom that. When I think of how God has watched over me through the year, this brings awe to my heart. Because God loves me, I know that He has a plan for my life. Give me Jesus!” ~ Suellen
“God’s love was always there for me but the first time I was made aware of it was in 1972 when someone shared God’s love to me. When I received Christ as my Savior, I know that I received His love – all of it! God’s love was given to me when Jesus died on the cross. So now I can thankfully love Jesus back. Our symbol of love is the heart, but God’s symbol of love is the cross.” ~ Steve
“Within the last several weeks I’ve come to understand God’s love even deeper. Growing up I never had the love, protection or guidance of a parent. How do you know what love is when it was never given or taught? My earthly examples of love distorted what love should be and it was never pretty. I recently did a Bible study on the Lord’s prayer and that’s when the first two words hit me in a profound way – ‘Our Father’. At that moment, I realize that those words elevate me to the position of His child. I may not have had a mother or a father’s love on this earth, but I have always had my heavenly Father’s love. God’s love is profound and special. His love erased the loveless years and now gives me unexplainable joy!” ~ Mark
“Not only has God’s love saved me, but it is changing me and blesses me in countless ways. I have had undeniable moments where God expressed His love for me in tangible ways. When I am weak, fearful or doubtful He gives me support and guidance through His word, through a wonderful husband, terrific friends and amazing brothers and sisters in Christ. Because of His love, I feel most joyful when I walk through those doors and into a church that puts God’s love into action through worship, biblical guidance and ministries. He has been so good to me. I love that He loves me in this way!” ~ Patti
“When my mother was pregnant with me, she had many health problems, and it was suggested that she have an abortion as this was going to be a risky pregnancy. She got a 2nd opinion, and this doctor watched her pregnancy closely and I was born healthy at 6 lbs. I am fearfully and wonderfully made as He formed my inward parts and covered me in my mother’s womb. I feel and see God’s love all around me. He is greater than anything I can imagine. GOD IS LOVE! Through His love I am truly able to love others, and I don’t have to fear anything. In God’s unfailing love for me, I find peace and hope for eternity. He loves me with His limitless and unconditional forgiveness. When I go through storms and valleys, He is always with me. Today, I want each of you to know how precious you are to God. He loves you beyond measure! Our God’s love is unfailing!” ~ Janice
